Setting out on the next phase of life…

Countdown to Panama Vacation

Map of Panama with Boquete to the North of David and Gamboa directly north of Panama City along the Panama Canal.

Our Panama vacation is almost here!!!  It’s hard to believe but we are now just inside of 2 weeks to go before our flight to Panama City (PTY) from Dulles Airport (IAD). I’m slightly concerned about disruptions given all the havoc on United Airlines flights over the past week or so but…  We’re flying Copa Airlines (flight 357) and they don’t fly a lot out of Dulles so fingers crossed. We also depart about 9:30 AM so with luck there won’t be any thunderstorms that early — at least here in the Washington region.

Taking a full month away from home, in Panama or anywhere else, is new to us. Granted, we did 3 weeks in Cape Cod last year but we’re stretching the time away from a home a bit more this year.  I think we’ve gotten everything in order for Panama, or at least have a plan for the remaining things.  Vaccines gotten. Malaria pills picked up. Airbnb’s sorted. New Charles Schwab checking account with reimbursement of all ATM fees established. Proof of financial solvency (yes this is required), return flight, and accommodations all set to go. New passport for DJ. We’ve even cleaned out enough of the meat in the chest freezer to shut it down for a month. And we are setup to receive another half cow about a week after we return.

All that’s really left now, I think, is to schedule car service to get us to the airport and make sure we’ve got our staff setup at the shop to be able to fulfill retail and wholesale orders while we are gone.  In my day job, luckily we had a big re-org recently and I’m taking over a brand new partner! This means I’ve got a nice transition period and no outstanding pile of work at the moment.

While we are gone this will be the primary place we share what’s happening and where we are during our Panama vacation.  It’s a bit less public so it doesn’t advertise so widely that we are out of the country. So visit https://coleys.net for significant updates and photos.

We depart Thursday July 13th and return Friday, August 11th. One week each in Panama City, Boquete, Panama City (again), and Gamboa. If you really are interested see the full itinerary.

This Copa Airlines 737-800 (or similar anyway) will take us away to our Panama vacation.
