Hillary and I had been waiting to finalize dates for walking the Camino de Santiago until we knew where DJ was headed to college. The wait is now over. DJ is headed to NYU Shanghai for college and will start in late August 2026!
While this is a bit surprising, it’s also a win-win. DJ really wanted to go to NYU for business school and convinced us to allow him to apply Early Decision. Hillary and I were really keen on him at least considering an overseas school, though we were eyeing Kings College, University College London, or London School of Economics.
In the end, DJ put Shanghai as an alternate campus for his NYU application. We never really considered that they would accept him ED yet place him in Shanghai, China. We are all thrilled. He is excited to go to NYU Shanghai and learn Mandarin (required for graduation). We are thrilled he will be stretched with an overseas university. As a side benefit we will be close by in Southeast Asia during his time there and his
2026 Falls Into Place
Now that we know where DJ is headed for college, the rest of 2026 falls into place.
- NYU Shanghai visit in April
- Student visa in May
- High School Graduation in June from Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology
- Moving to Florida in July
- Visiting grandparents in July/August
- Selling our car and flying to Shanghai in August for DJ to start NYU Shanghai
- Hillary and I head to France in September
- Walking the Camino de Santiago in September/October/November from Le Puy en Velay to Santiago de Compostella
- Headed to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia for November/December
